History of Farmers - Welsh Lavender Skincare Brand.

The story of Farmers, the first lavender farm in Wales began in 2003 with Oxford philosopher, Bill Newton-Smith, and international journalist Nancy Durham. Both wondering how their Welsh sheep farm in blustery Builth Wales, near Hay-on-Wye could be put to new use. One fine evening in spring, Nancy was reminded of the lavender hedge in their Oxford garden and wondered if she might be able to grow a similar one on the farm. By September that same year an entire field of lavender had been planted and this is how the philosopher and the journalist became distillers of lavender oil and creators of lavender gifts, Farmers.

We are so happy to now be selling a select range of product from the farmers brand, I've visited the farm and its such a beautiful location, can't wait to go again.

The farm has spectacular views across Mynydd Epynt and is open all year round. They welcome visitors to walk through the lavender fields and there are wonderful cakes with coffee and tea served through the summer and out of season by arrangement.

The peak-time for growing lavender is midsummer. The distillation process begins in late July continuing through into mid-August. Out of season, their distillery is also open to visitors so you can learn how lavender flowers produce essential oil.
