Alba Jewellery is all handmade by Jackie Dawson at her workshop at home in Suffolk. She loves exploring and experimenting with recycled metals and playing with shape and texture.
Using recycled materials is really important to Jackie, she loves the idea that the metal had a previous life, now being appreciated once again, for it's natural raw beauty. She regularly uses hammering as a finish, loving the way the tiny hammer creates marks that bring out a depth of colour in the metal as it catches the light. By using age-old techniques and simple hand tools, her pieces combine celebrating the uniqueness of handmade, the authenticity of simple design and the beauty of raw metal.
Jackie buys all her recycled silver and gold from Hatton Garden in London. Whilst her brass is sourced from a variety of suppliers.
All jewellery made by Jackie uses recycled silver, brass or gold. At present the chains, earring posts, butterfly backs, jump rings and clasps are made from sterling silver but as soon as I she can source these in recycled silver, she will.
Alba packaging is sourced carefully from companies that use recycled materials and all their packaging is fully recyclable. Alba jewellery arrives in grey boxes made using recycled card, they are wrapped in grey 100% recycled tissue. The boxes have not been printed on so that they can also be reused. The mail bags are also fully recyclable / reusable.
Jackie occasionally takes on commissions and will work on bespoke projects with some of her clients and is happy to welcome you to her workshop by arrangement.
Jackie Dawson of Alba jewellery is an old friend of mine, we used to work together years ago and she's always had such amazing taste (and always looks incredible). I was so pleased when she started Alba jewellery as she's always been so creative and this is the perfect outlet for her. Such beautiful work and wonderful organic forms and ideas, love Alba, love her!
Thanks so much for the support as always Jackie, I'm so pleased with the necklace, it's beautiful. So lovely and important to have UK makers uniting and supporting this sale.
The St Mungos Online Sale will run until the midnight on Sunday 21st November.
Thanks again for your support.
